Many doctors supervise doctors in training and must complete forms based on direct observation which must then be manually added to their electronic portfolio. An app would allow trainers to do this live during observation
Patients are frequently clutching a form that asks for an investigation - hospitals will often send out a leaflet to explain the more invasive tests but what about blood tests as well? Linked to this would be a section about what an abnormal (or normal) test mean. Patients could search for tests of all descriptions and be linked to other patients' experiences of this test
Real time patient experience has been trialled in a number of ways. Why not create an app that is linked to a particular GP surgery and communicate it to the patients so they can let you know immediately about any encounter. Collated results could be linked to NHS choices.
GPs like me are increasing the use of email to improve access for their patients. However, if I'm out and about and a patient makes contact, rapid access to their notes is not possible. An app that allows me access to my own clinical system (EMIS Web) would make the turnaround and efficiency of my e-consultation much better and safer. EMISWeb is a natural choice but why not other clinical systems as well?
