All too often the sometimes blindingly obvious benefits that an app can bring for patients health and wellbeing or productivity gains for Health and Social Care are dismissed by those who have the authority to buy and promote the services.
This app would hold a library of pragmatic and approved business case models and facilitate the creation of new cases by the input of variables such as cost per patient and expected immediate (and tangible) benefits and local health economy benefits.
Virtually all Health and Social Care organisations that deploy/support apps and telehealth duplicate the expensive and often wasteful process of developing their own business case from scratch. This app would allow everyone to share previous learning and to choose the right approach.
As an example, taking Moodscape which has overwhelming support on this site but I was previously unaware of (or any other app), my app idea could provide a well defined, acceptable and compelling reason to support or promote it via mainstream services.
The mobile builder app itself could be used on smartphone, tablet or as a web app,
- allow the browsing and searching of previous business cases
- allow the start of a new case based on an existing one
- allow the input and adjustment of parameters to localise the case
- present national average information on tariff and equipment costs
- calculate the likely total cost of ownership
- calculate the return on investment/ loss over 12 months
- highlight savings that can be used for QIPP
- allow the business case to be emailed
