Two ideas - an app to find your nearest flu vaccination clinic and an app which makes it easier for people to cancel NHS appointments (rather than miss them and not tell us and end up wasting lots of NHS time and money)!
Ideas for a new health app
Find voluntary organisations for women and/or BME people in a local area that offer health and social care services, for example, couselling
An app that encourages children and teenagers to "be FIT" ie skin clearance/spot reduction, weight management, toning, confidence, by giving hints and tips on healthy eating and physical activity. Needs to be customised to individual with special days noted, such as birthdays and celebratory days to highlight that treats are fine but not every day. To include motivational messages such as "after 3 days of drinking more... more »
Map of Medicine on the iPhone!
Child health growth chart app. You enter the height, weight and age, and the app gives you the growth percentiles and displays this on a graph.
"Special Diet App" Lots of people are on special diets e.g. my Mum is on a "low salt diet" but what does that really mean and what ingredients can she cook with, what tasty recipes can she try (food without salt can often taste bland) what foods should she avoid? I think lots of people would find such an app helpful. They can use the app when out shopping or planning meals. Other examples include low fat diets, high... more »
2 Different ideas; 1. Locate you: An app that locates you within the hospital and on entry of the clinic name/ward directs you to where you need to be within the hospital. Time and again we see patients, visitors and even staff lost within hospital corridors, unable to comprehend the hospital maps. This is a simple app which reduces stress and late arrival to appointments. 2 - Top 5: An app that holds the top 5 frequently... more »
"NHS Choices - Search for Services" as an app which can automatically utilise/access your current location (e.g. to find local GP services, walk-in clinics etc..). I actually hope this might actually already be in development using NHS Choices' existing budget!
Find out via the location services where your nearest Give Blood centre is, opening times and directions to it.
Find out your NHS Number / Use NHS number to update contact details
Syncs / transmits details (securely) to NHS orgs that patients are registered with.
App that allows patients to easily record/track peak flow readings with great/easy visual presentation of readings. Would facilitate sharing of readings with health professionals and might be especially helpful to engage younger patients with uncontrolled asthma. I realise there are already existing apps that do this, but perhaps a NHS (re)branded version might encourgage health professional to encourage patients to use... more »
Hopefully we're all familiar with the Tamagotchi pets. Using a similar idea the Tamagotchi could be a growing child (tot or teen). If the owner of the Tamagotchi Tot or Teen doesn’t make sure that it follows national health recommendations such as eating 5 a day and exercising for 60 minutes per day, the Tamagotchi Tot or Teen will become overweight & poorly. The goal been that the owner keeps their Tamagochi Tot or Teen... more »
Helpful app for patients to record/track home blood pressure readings, facilitating sharing of info with clinicians. I realise there are already existing apps that do this, but perhaps a free NHS (re)branded version might encourgage health professional to encourage patients to use them?
An App that allows you to receive the latest waiting times at your local a&e would be a great way to maybe discourage people from making unnecessary a&e trips if they know its a 4hr wait etc. also in my position i have two equidistant hospitals this app would make it easy for me to know which one to choose to get the quickest service in the event of an a&e trip.
